ISTANBUL GELISIM UNIVERSITY

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), having embarked upon its journey with the vision of continuous “PROGRESS”, was founded in Istanbul in 2008, one of Europe’s biggest student destinations, to be one of those world universities that create value. Advocating higher education as the paramount tool of sustainable development, IGU provides education to its 31,613 national and international students with 5 faculties, 3 colleges, 2 vocational schools, and 84 undergraduate programs, 64 associate degree programs (evening education), 37 associate degree programs, 52 graduate programs- of which the 32 are thesis programs- and 6 doctoral programs within its institute of graduate studies. IGU, which offers a huge research complex consisting of 125 laboratories to the service of its students on its campus located at the heart of Turkish and World trade, also has 21 research centers and 63 student clubs that allow students to engage in social, cultural, scientific and sports activities outside of the classroom. Aspiring also to crown its achievements on a global scale, IGU, with its 63 accredited programs as a result of collaborations with such reputable and pioneer international bodies as AQAS, AHPGS, ABET and PEARSON, is the university with the most accredited programs in Turkey.

Adopting sustainability as its main theme and people and progress as its focus; IGU, at this stage, ranks 1st in SDG 4 “Quality Education” category, 4th in SDG 3 “Good Health And Well-Being” category, 2nd in SGD 7 “Affordable And Clean Energy” category, 3rd in SDG 17 “Partnerships For The Goals” category and 1oth in SDG 8 “Decent Work And Economic Growth” category in the rankings of universities contributing societies’ development by the widely respected  Times Higher Education (THE) within Turkey, which is also known as “Oscars” of Higher Education. Besides, IGU ranks well in the same categories in the World.

In other respects, serving as the fruits of its initiatives to internationalize and to become a “world university”, IGU is ranked amongst the top 300 universities in QS EECA (Emerging Europe and Central Asia) University Rankings 2021. IGU has shown that it is the center for quality education by ranking 58th in the “International Faculty” category and being in the top 100 universities in the “Citations Per Paper” category, and two of its faculty members being placed in Stanford University's “List of Top 2 percent Global Scientists”. Furthermore, IGU, according to Turkey Patent Report 2020, is crowned as “patent champion” by filing a total of 92 patents.
